The Phantom of the Opera

The sounds of the Opera have never been so exhilarating. From the moment you enter the grand theatre, you feel transported to 18th Century, Paris. The Phantom of the Opera plays in a grand replica of the Paris Opera House. A giant chandelier sits in the middle of the room as you wait quietly for the show to begin. The show is filled with a fantastic sight for the eye—an explosion of fireworks, beautiful scenery and spectacular costumes.

The musical is a love story between a banished phantom and the blossoming young star of the opera, Christine. The Phantom haunts audiences of the Paris Opera House by playing with lights, causing trouble and making demands to the people of Paris. He lives in the shadows beneath the opera house because of his hideous deformed face. It is not until Christine falls in love with the Phantom that he finds a reason to enjoy life once again.

Andrew Lloyd Weber’s score combines the best of the modern world with a Paris Romance. The grand sound of the organ plays the main theme of the opera. Its haunting allure has audiences captured in the mystery of a fallen hero. It is reflection of a history that is revealed in a suspenseful and frightening manner.

The sets are some of the most sophisticated ever built. I have seen the show in LA but the custom built theatre definitely enhances the experience. A scene can be set in a lavish palace and then you are transported to the roof of the building. From the Phantom’s lair, a solemn foggy scene underground, to the grand ballroom, you do not know what you will see next.

The next time you are in Vegas, the Phantom of the Opera is a must-see. Think grand, think opulence—the Phantom is an exhilarating thrill ride that will have you begging for more.
